“Teaching Sisters of St. Dorothy, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts” in India

The pioneer sisters of the Indian Province gathering

29th and 30th of November 2019

The pioneer sisters of the Indian Province gathered in the Provincial house – Archana, Keezhmadu, Aluva on the days 29th and 30th of November 2019 for the unforgettable moments of group-living. We are in 20 from 19 families, 11 communities and 4 states. Actually we could be 27 but many stay abroad and so they couldn’t be present for the event. We miss them badly!!!

In the first morning of the first day itself, the Provincial Rev. Sr Biji Mulackal introduced the program in detail quoting His Holiness Pope Francis saying we are here “to look to the past with gratitude, to the present with enthusiasm and to the future with hope” and some small assignments such as liturgy, entertainments, chronicle etc…were given to the different batches or to the individuals for the two days.

The Resource Person Dr. Sr. Christel SD lead us throughout the first day by enlightening, enriching and inspiring us from the well of her experience in various fields and vast knowledge on the topic. We treasure out the depth of information received: middle age is a time for generativity and thus, enjoying the gift of inner freedom, a time to make others grow in love and commitment. Her provocation like an unevaluated life is not worth-living and life is a process and not yet a finished product stirred up our minds.

In the late afternoon, we had a special moment of sharing of our golden past to bring rays of enthusiasm to the future for which we gathered batch-wise. In the evening we enjoyed the rejuvenating recreation in which various cultural programs were performed by all of us and brought waves of laughter to all gathered.

The second day was also started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. After that, we put ourselves together for completing our reciprocal enriching. After the tea break, Sr. Provincial enlightened us by highlighting some reflections on the document Christ is Alive by Pope Francis quoting how Jesus lived his youthfulness and how his Mother accompanied him throughout the path to Calvary with her constant and continuous ‘YES’- the way she chose to remain in her youthfulness.

The first session of the afternoon, we all drew a ‘wheel’ marking out the important aspects of our Religious life beginning from the material to the spiritual. It inspired us to make a proper circle by making needed corrections in our daily life.

In the late afternoon, we enjoyed a moment of Collation on the book of Haggai. This brought a renewed vision and rays of commitment to the Lord our God and to the call He gifted us with, by renewing the temple He wants from us personally and as a Province.

The close of the day was very much special as it was the vigil of Advent as well as the Province Day. Wow! We lived a powerful moment of prayer service lead by our juniors. A moment of memorizing, thanks giving, invoking, wishing one another and what not? A delicious dinner followed the spiritual agape.

The recreation

We hereby express our deep sense of gratitude to the Lord for his love and care over each one of us. We are grateful to the General and Provincial teams that provided us with this great opportunity to enrich ourselves with these days of gathering and to anchor much more on Him who called us apart and guided us all through our life. We cannot forget our communities that supported us to come over here and all the members in Archana house who in one way or other worked to make our meeting together ever memorable.

THANKS! THANKS! A BIG THANKS to all!
