“Teaching Sisters of St. Dorothy, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts” in India

Nurse’s meet on 1st and 2nd of September 2017

23 nurse sisters from different communities of Indian province have gathered in Maria Bhavan Community Kavaraparambu on the previous day of the meeting itself. On 1st September at 7 am Holy Mass was celebrated and the sermon was highlighting the noble services of nurses which is really indispensable to the humanity. The inaugural ceremony was at 9.00 am and the Provincial Superior Sr. Cloudienaliya Karrumancheril and other representatives lighted the lamp. Followed by there was a felicitation by the provincial Superior. She pointed out the exhortation of our father Founder St. John Antony Farina to nurses citing his words.

Sr. Elsitta Vattakunnel one of the senior nurses shared the Biblical aspect of nursing and the importance of the Word of God in the healing ministry. She put in evidence the effectiveness of nursing care is not merely depends on the efficiency but it is mostly based on our limpid spiritual and religious life. This facilitate the flow of God’s grace to the patients in the form of curing.

In the afternoon Dr. Sandeep an ENT Surgeon highlighted the importance and the value of nursing profession and the role of nun nurses in the organization of wards.

On the second day Dr. Sajina S.D. a professor from Pazhanganad college of nursing of Samaritan hospital took class on qualities of nurse, ethical dimension, basic principles of medical ethics and legal ethics etc. Besides few questions were given to be discussed by Sr. Mary Sheeba the medical councilor. The discussions were done in two groups and the summary was presented in the assembly in the presence of Sr. Sheeba. Around 4.30pm the meeting got dispersed.
